Old Hubley Cast Iron Paperweight Painted Miniature Cocker Spaniel Dog For Your Antique Cast Iron Paperweight Collection-Spaniel9 Details Description: An old Hubley cast iron small paperweight cast in the shape of a cocker spaniel dog standing on all four. The dog has both ears down along his head and his tail standing up. It is painted in light off-white coloring with brown colored highlights on its ears and around its eyes. The dog also displays a painted red collar in the front of its neck. The dog's eyes are black in color with white centers. The dog's nose and mouth were most likely also painted in black, but the paint is lost and you can see the dark metal instead. The paperweight is very well cast and shows details of the dog's body, face, and ears. The paperweight has losses to the paint which can be seen in the photos. A very nice paperweight to add to your collection. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of the description. Date: Uncertain, but most likely sometime in the early to mid 1900s. Origin: Purchased in an estate auction in Lancaster County Pennsylvania. Size: The piece measures ~2 1/2" at its highest, ~3 1/2" at its longest, and is ~1 3/8" at its widest. The piece weighs about 12 ounces. Maker: Hubley. Marks: Unmarked as to the maker. Distinguishing Characteristics - Most Interesting About The Piece: Nice and very desirable antique cast iron paperweight. Definitely a quality piece worthy of a prominent spot in your collection. Condition: The paperweight is in very good condition and has no breaks, or repairs. The piece lost some of its original paint in the form of chips to the surface paint, which can be seen in the photos, but still retains what we estimate to be over 90% of its original paint. Other than that, the piece is nice and would look great in your collection. Note the piece has a label with the number 7034 on the bottom of the paw, which we believe was the number of this piece in its previous owner’s collection. We chose not to remove the label.
