Description

Antique Providence Inkstand Company 1876 "Plymouth Rock" pressed-glass paperweight. A clear, three-dimensional replica of Plymouth Rock, with "1620" in relief on the surface. Embossed on the base, "Mary Chilton was the first to land upon the rock, Dec. 21, 1620. A rock in the wilderness welcomed our sires, from bondage far over the dark rolling sea, on that holy alter they kindled the fires, Jehovah! which glow in our bosoms for thee." Signed/dated.
