Description
This is a very rare heavy cobalt blue glass frog paperweight which I have identified as having made in the mid 19th century and is probably Boston Sandwich glass made as an end of day whimsy . It measures 4.25” x 3.25” and 3.5” high and is in excellent condition. This was recently deassessed with other antique glass items from the S F Fine arts museum. NOTE: I received a message from an Ebay viewer who stated it was a 1980s gift shop item. Again it was deassessed from a museum along with lots of other antique American glass including two turtle paperweights which I have identified as definitely early New England. I checked all more recently made cobalt glass frogs and yes they were made by Blenko, Mosser, Viking and others but none look like this one. I am selling it as I purchased it. I was also just advised it was made by Clevenger New Jersey in the 1940s, but have not been able to identify it as such for sure.
